Is teaching a stressful career?

The job of a teacher has been even more stressful than usually over the last few years due to the pandemic. Many teachers have had to very quickly adapt to different methods of working. It may be that they have had times where they were purely teaching remotely and other times when they have had to teach a class in school whilst also ensuring they set and mark work for pupils ate home. This has only added to the already huge amount of pressure they are under.

Recent research has shown that many teachers in primary and secondary schools often feel stressed in their role enough to make them consider leaving the profession. Not only do you have to find ways of dealing with disruptive pupils but also must ensure that they still get access to a high level of education and that they do not stop any other child from learning.

Teachers not only have the huge work load and pupil behaviour to deal with but they also have to cope with Ofsted inspections which are usually carried out every three years or so. This can add a lot of work to an already busy schedule and can be quite daunting knowing that you are going to be watched and judged on your teaching methods.
